WISCONSIN GLLL / NCLL TEAMS

UW—Madison’s three teams competing in the Great Lakes Lacrosse League (GLLL - www.greatlakeslax.org) pride themselves on playing highly competitive lacrosse while keeping costs, travel and practice time relatively low compared to the University’s MCLA team. The skill levels are comparable to the MCLA team , but academic demands  and other personal obligations make the lower commitment of time and money on the GLLL/NCLL teams the right fit for our players.  This formula allows for students to continue playing organized lacrosse while only committing  two nights a week to practice. The GLLL/NCLL teams generally travel together and schedule games to avoid conflicts with home football games and other major campus events.

Wisconsin’s GLLL/NCLL teams are known as the “Red” , "White" and the “Black” teams . GLLL games are played with regional teams such as Northwestern  and NIU allowing short drive times .The “Red” , "White" , and “Black” teams are eligible to compete in the National Collegiate Lacrosse League’s (NCLL -www.ncllax.com) National Tournament.  The NCLL  is a top Collegiate Club league featuring the Club teams from the Elite of NCAA Lacrosse schools , including John Hopkins , Maryland , Virginia , Duke , Cornell , Syracuse  and many others.

Our GLLL/NCLL  squads  are very talented , in 2009 the red team came in third at the University of Maryland Tournament , defeating #1 ranked Navy and #12 ranked Cornell.

Overall ,the “Red” team ended the 2009-10 season with a 22-5 record while the “Black” team culminated their 19-4 season with a win in the GLLL Division 2 Championship Game.
